It’s not enough to love your country as a political leader. You should make sure you are not a bumbling idiot and cause more harm. It’s not enough to be honest as a government official. You should make sure you are not isolated by the entrenched thieves in the bureaucracy so that they can continue to plunder while leaving you totally in the dark. Leveling the playing field doesn’t mean taking away the wealth of the rich. The new investments and programs should make everybody wealthier but ensure that such prosperity will filter down to the grassroots. Religious freedom shouldn’t mean God must be eradicated so that the non believers will not be annoyed to hear the Lord’s Prayer over the public address system. Love is not bleeding heart charity that promotes mendicancy but rather people empowerment through education and job opportunities. Loving God is not a one track unilateral exercise but recognition of a one world connection to all things through life and with death.
If you grow rich in office because of insider leverage, influence peddling, lobbyist largesse and insidious payolas that’s basically corruption but if your economic programs for the country resulted in providing homes for countless marginalized families, generated jobs and opportunities to lift the mainstream above the abject poverty level, and made the country more attractive to the influx of foreign investments, then the good outweigh the bad. It’s a million times better than being a paragon of incorruptibility then forgetting to provide for the energy needs of the country resulting in a spate of brownouts that cripple commerce and industry and drive away foreign investments.
It is not evil to attain excessive wealth. Knowing you cannot take it with you gives you inspiration on how to bequeath it as a legacy to your heirs, your countrymen, and to the world. Success is a measure of the wisdom that has grown in your person. The rich tycoons have conquered the challenges of living in their social and political milieu which vested them with the wherewithal to design with vision how to direct their economic power to transform the earth to be a better place for all present and future lives. Making investments grow through the passing of abundance across generations results in economic benefits for the people through advances and strides in trade, industry, and technology.
